Jessica and I are finally across the Mason-Dixon line- a big milestone in this long trail. We walked through Harper's Ferry, W.V. yesterday and will move on towards the Shanendoah National Park tomorrow. Tonight we are staying at Bear's Den Hostel about 35 miles from Shanendoah. 991 miles left, approximately 550 of them in Virgina. Tennessee will be our next border-crossing!!! We have been blessed with good health and fairly good weather. V.A. is considerably hotter and drier than any other state we have encountered, but that hot, dry weather also means a possible drought and water shortage along the A.T. Hopefully some of the residual rain from these past hurricanes will fill the streams and keep the springs running further south of here.
