Making a MUCH needed stop in Daleville/Troutville near Roanoke, Va. We came through the amazingly hiker-friendly town of Waynesboro last week and we are heading directly to Pearisburg, Va. The water situation is very bad because of drought leaving us with little to horrible tasting water. However, the weather is incredible- nice and cool, and we have met some very helpful people! (Thanks for getting us into town Del!) We apologize for no new pic. posts, but we will unload alot of pictures at the hostel in Pearisburg. Thanks for all the comments, prayers and thoughts. We are getting anxious to get home. We can start to see the finish line. Less than 800 miles now!

Great to hear from you guys. Hopefully you'll get this soon (I aquablazed the housatonic river and your number got smudged when my canoe flipped). I talked to the caretaker at the blackburn center and she said you guys were kicking prodigious amounts of ass as expected. I've been moving pretty well since I got back on trail, but I'm afraid rumors of my catching up may be overblown. I closed about half the 18 day gap at one point but I figure i must have dropped back a bit (I'm in waynesboro). Even if I don't quite catch up I may take you up on the offer of a ride at the endpoint. At any rate, I'm psyched to see how the rest of our adventures play out. Talk to you soon,
Carat

WOW It is amazing how many miles you guys can take on in one day. You are almost home and at the end of an awesome adventure. We are planning that big welcome home party. Take care of each other and be careful. Mom
